Last July 25, Mr. Toshihito Kumagai, Mayor of Chiba City, visited Ambassador Naoyuki Toyotoshi to inform about the fundraising campaign that his Municipality has undertaken in favor of the flood victims in Asuncion, sister city of Chiba, who have been evacuated due to the unusual flood of the Paraguay river.

Last month, Chiba Municipality organized a fundraising campaign which raised JPY 861,257 from its residents. The City Hall itself also donated JPY 500,000 and reached a total amount of JPY 1,361,257, which will be used to support the relief efforts already taking place to assist the residents of Asuncion.

The donation will be channeled through the Government of Paraguay and its Diplomatic Mission in Tokyo.
